Hi all,

About a year ago I managed to get Debian running on the RS and using it since. See my site http://www.debwrt.net/ and http://www.debwrt.net/trac/ for more information. The project is about getting Debian to run on many OpenWrt supported devices and provides downloads, but also a set of easy (menuconfig based) build scripts to create kernels for various devices, and root file systems for various architectures (MIPS, MIPSEL, ARM, ...).

Any news on the keyboard ? French keyboard is included, but that's not the one I need. I think there might be a way to add new keyboards, but I can't find anything :( Basically, the one I need is the swiss french keyboard, that's like a QWERTY keyboard, but with a few changes, like for the accentuated letters. French keyboard has a totally different layout called AZERTY (yeah, French people like to do everything different... lol. I'm French but still, this stupid keyboard is annoying).
If you could tell me where the keyboard maps are, I can make one myself (I guess it's not that complicated once you know where to look).
Thanks !

Iptables is supported, i did not compile the modules into the kernel. you will need to modprobe the required modules, so for nat,etc etc,

here is a listing of the included modules.

so

lib/modules/2.6.32.16/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter# ls
arp_tables.ko ip_tables.ko ipt_LOG.ko ipt_REDIRECT.ko ipt_addrtype.ko iptable_filter.ko iptable_raw.ko nf_nat.ko nf_nat_h323.ko nf_nat_proto_dccp.ko nf_nat_proto_udplite.ko nf_nat_snmp_basic.ko

Found the kernel does not support iptables.

Re-built kernel from the files included in the rootfs tar ball.
It generated a vmlinux file.
I used tar to make vmlinux.lzma (2.6 MBytes)
Flashed into the RS_PRO
Boot fails ... error says LZMA decode fails (but I have confirmed vmlinux.lzma is a valid lzma file with a Windows utility that can read *.lzma)

It actually waits already. for example, remove your usb key and or sd card, and try to boot it, it will not panic, it will sit there forever waiting for sda1 to come online. I have noticed that every few reboots in my case It will panic due to some other bug related to the usb drivers and it will improperly detect my sd/usb rootfs and panic. I am working on tracking this down.

Unreliable Bootups:

Earlier I reported that with a Lexar USB 4GB Stick, the RS_PRO would not boot at all.

And I found that a SanDisk 4GB stick did boot up.

Well .... about 10% of the time - the RS_PRO will not boot up with the SanDisk USB stick either.

The error is always the same:

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)

Is it possible to add some sort of delay before accessing rootfs on the USB device?

Or is there a better solution?
